| | | | Eurosystem minimum reserves in Finland: reserve maintenance, EUR million | | All credit institutions residing in Finland are subject to minimum reserve requirements. These institutions hold reserves, either directly or via an intermediary, in accounts at the Bank of Finland. In the minimum reserve system of the European System of Central Banks (ESCB), the average balance on a reserve account must meet the requirement for each maintenance period. The Reserve maintenance period always starts on the settlement day of the main refinancing operation (MRO) following the ECB Governing Council meeting at which the monthly assessment of the monetary policy stance is pre-scheduled. |

| | The Governing Council of the European Central Bank decided in July 2014 that the frequency of monetary policy meetings would change to a six-week cycle, from January 2015. Accordingly, reserve maintenance periods will also be extended to six weeks, from the current periods of about four weeks, to match the new schedule. This means that, in the future, there will be eight maintenance periods a year, instead of the previous twelve. During the transitional phase, the maintenance period commencing in December 2014 will be extended by fourteen days to end on 27 January 2015. The first maintenance period of the year 2015 will commence on the following day, 28 January 2015. |
